The effect of glyphosate applied using two volumes of water on purple nutsedge and three perennial grasses
1991
Chivinge, O.A. | Mare, C. (University of Zimbabwe, Harare (Zimbabwe). Dept. of Crop Science)
The herbicide glyphosate was applied in 100l per ha and 300l per ha of water at 1,44kg a.i and 2.16kg a.i to purple nutsedge, Cyperus rotundus, couch grass, Cynodon dactylon, star grass and Dallis grass, Paspalum dalatatum. It induced leaf and stem toxicity in couch grass, star grass and Dallis grass 11 days after treatment, irrespective of the volume of water used, but its toxicity to the four plant species increased when applied in the low vol of water. The viability of purple nutsedge tubers treated with glyphosate in 300l per ha of water was more than three times that of those treated with 100l perha
