A Southern African Development community(SADC) regional review of forest utilization and marketing was undertaken in 1994 by the SADC Forestry Sector Technical Coordination Unit(FSTCU). The review identifies and describes issues relative to resource utilisation and marketing in the SADC forestry sector and develops outlines for projects to improve the level of these activities throughout SADC. The review found that the majority of the timber cut in the SADC countries is for fuelwood while the industrial use of the indigenous forest is limited and not well-controlléd or documented.
