The influence of chemical control of Lopholaena coriifolia (Sond.) on grass herbage production from sandy soils in Zimbabwe
1991
Nyati, P. (Ministry of Lands, Agriculture and Water Development, Masvingo (Zimbabwe). Makoholi Experiment Station)
The article presents a study of the effects of picloram-potassium (Tordon 22K) on Lopholaena coriifolia. Three methods of introducing the herbicide into the plant, namely, foliar spray, cut-stem painting, or injection onto root remnants, were used. The response of veld grasses to reduced competition was investigated. The study demonstrated that Lopholaena coriifolia competes with grasses and its selective removal from the grazing lands is beneficial to herbage production
