The purpose of this study is to provide Zimbabwe's Department of Research and Specialist Services (DR&SS) and Zimbabwe's Agricultural Research Council with information to facilitate assessment of strategic agricultural research priorities. It is important for DR&SS to establish strategic priorities because it is faced with the problem of allocating its limited funds across research programs in such a way as to maximize benefits to the nation. The current economic problems and structural adjustment requirements that Zimbabwe is experiencing heightens the need for DR&SS to be cost-effective and efficient in its operations.
