Studying the determinant factors of family demand for chicken meat in the governorate of Lattakia using econometric models
2023
Haider Shriky
The research was conducted in Lattakia Governorate in 2022, with the aim of studying the determinants of household demand for broiler chicken using econometric models. Where the study population represents all families in Lattakia Governorate, 400 questionnaires were distributed in the city of Lattakia and its countryside in the four regions of the governorate, where the descriptive analytical and standard approach was used to achieve the objectives of the study and multiple regression analysis to determine the most important economic factors affecting consumption and to obtain the regression equation of the form: Y = α+βx or Y=α+β1x1+β2x2 The results of the hypothesis study showed that the studied factors (independent variables) differed in the degree of their impact on the quantity of demand (the dependent variable), and therefore we can divide them into two parts: • Factors that affect the quantity of demand significantly and can be considered determinants. • Factors that do not affect the quantity of demand were statistically insignificant, and therefore are not specific. As the variables (number of family members, number of income earners, place of residence (rural or city), total income) are statistically insignificant factors, and therefore are not considered determinants of the quantity of household demand, and the variables (type of family, place of residence (small village, ...), the educational level, saving part of the income, high prices, the economic crisis) are statistically significant factors, and therefore are considered determinants of the quantity of household demand, just as the change in prices and their rise were among the determinants of purchase and its quantity, in addition to the clear impact of the crisis that is going through the country during the recent period, which had a significant impact on various other factors.
