Yield and yield components of garlic (Allium sativum) as influenced by some cultural practices
1995
Norman, J.C. | Shongwe, V.D.
Field experiments were carried out to determine the effects of planting dates, seed clove size and spacing on garlic. Early planting in April produced highest vegetative growth, mean bulb weight and total bulb yield. The closest spacings of 30 by 5 cm (666,666 plants per ha) and 20 by 5 by 45 cm (615,384 plants per ha) produced the highest total bulb yield and minimum vegetative growth, mean bulb weight and clove number per bulb. The widest spacings had opposite effects.
