The purpose of this publication is to provide some recognition on the reafforestation activities of the Forestry Division of Tonga's Minstry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forests, with the assistance of the NZ Government. There are three main reafforestation areas: (1) Eua - where new seed stock are being trialed, planted and outplanted from the Forest Nursery and Farm. The Eua Forest Farm has dealt primarily with exotic species suitable for timber production. (2) Sopu Reclamation Area where the majority of the area has now been established in vegetation of some description. (3) Mataliku Extension Nursery where a wide range of timber, "cultural", food, medicinal, ornamental, and other useful species of considerable future economic, social and ecological importance to Tonga have been planted.
