The objective of this study was to provide a practical and objective approach to deciding if differences exist in ease of analysis and nutrient standard results of the USDA-approved nutrient analysis software reviewed. The USDA-approved software selected for review were: Computer Assisted Food Service (CAFS), Horizon Software (LUNCHBOX), Lunch Byte Systems (NUTRIKIDS), and School Nutrition Accountability Program (SNAP). The findings of this study conclude that, although the softwares begin with the same data base, the programs are not all the same. The study provides an instrument for leading CNP director/supervisors through the decision-making process as an informed CNP consumer.
