The Tennessee Valley has 14 million acres of forest land. These forests, together with soil, water, and minerals, comprise the natural resource base of the region, the source of all raw materials, the basis for all economic development.

These are all cooperative activities, designed to strengthen state agencies and institutions. Their success depends on how well they are accepted and supported by those who grow timber and those who convert it into useful consumer products.
