Abstracts: The assessment guide provides the framework and tools to implement a comprehensive nutrition education program for families enrolled in home-based and/or center-based child development programs. The guide is useful for family needs assessment and progress data that allows the home visitor to 1) assess available resources and skills; 2) keep progress reports throughout the year; 3) individualize the nutrition education program; 4) monitor effectiveness and teaching methods in the family situation. Curriculum checklists list developmental, sequenced, nutrition-related skills. Checklist completion identifies areas for further instruction. Explanations of changes in format are given. Initial assessment, curriculum, health observation, and monthly evaluation checklists are included.
