Abstract: Diet analysis of meal, menus, recipes and/or daily intake (one day or several-day averages) are provided by this program. Values for 15 food components (including fiber, alcohol and P:S ratio) are available for 650 foods. The food database may be expanded to 899 food items. Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDA) are calculated based on age, sex and pregnancy or lactation. Food selections may be entered by code, from the documentation or from lists on the computer monitor. Food component values are displayed for each food as it is chosen. Portions are entered as a decimal fraction of the given portion size. The program calculates: 1) totals for the food components, 2) percentages of the RDA, 3) the foods of which a single serving provided the greatest portion of various food components, and 4) the foods of which a single serving provided the greatest portion of the RDA. Analyses may be saved onto disks. When intakes are averaged over several days, possible nutrient excesses or deficiencies are flagged. Dietary recommendations are provided based on the individual's RDA and diet analysis results.
