Approaches to teaching in the health sciences

Knopke, Harry J. | Diekelmann, Nancy L.
Abstract: A guide for health science teachers attempts to help them prepare for the teaching experience by answering common questions, and providing suggestions on how to avoid common and unnecessary mistakes. The teaching role is differentiated from the subject area specialty. Ways to freshen up teaching techniques or strengthen instructional approaches are given. Chapter 1 is specifically for new teachers and highlights approaches to new teaching experiences and the role of the teacher. Chapter 2 overviews basic teaching approaches (planning, developing, managing, evaluating the teaching-learning process, and developing relationships). It is stressed that teaching is a growth process that is highly individualistic; there is no single right way to teach. (kbc).
