Abstract: A training guide for workers in the Colorado WIC program presents detailed information and specific examples for performing nutritional assessments based on a 24-hour dietary recall method (termed the "basic 6 diet assessment method"). Seven case studies (4 adults, 3 children) including 24-hour recall data, a completed assessment, and a detailed listing of how each food should be coded are described. Counseling tips are provided for the first case study; the workbook requires that the trainee compile counseling tips for the remaining 6 case studies. An index of mixed dishes and brief diet assessment guides for adults and children ages 1-5 years, are appended. (wz).
