The morphotaxonomic study of freshwater-submerged flora of charophytes of Western Uttar Pradesh plain water bodies reveals the presence of four Nitella taxa belonging to the class Charophyceae. The present paper deals with morphotaxonomic descriptions of four taxa of Nitella collected from three Blocks (i.e. Dhanipur, Lodha and Gabhana) and two Tehsils (i.e. Koil and Gabhana) of district Aligarh. The four identified taxa were Nitella cuminata var. acuminata f. indica (A.Br.) TFA. RDW; N. acuminata var. acuminata f. indica (A.Br.) TFA. RDW; N. furcata var. furcata f. furcata RDW and N. gracilis var. leptosoma f. leptosoma RDW. Some physico-chemical properties of the brackish water (from where the flora was collected) were also evaluated as dissolved oxygen, conductivity, pH and temperature and others.
