Kaur, Jagdeep | Aulakh, Gurjant Singh
A total of 113 frontline demonstrations were conducted during the years 2018 and 2019 on summer mungbean production technology in different villages of the two blocks of Ferozepur district of Punjab, with the aim to analyze the demonstrated production technology on the basis of yield and economic parameters and gaps in the adoption of technology. The results showed that improved practices increased the yield of summer mungbean from 10.02 (farmers practice) to 12.35 q/ha (improved practice) with an overall increase per cent of 23.25 per cent. Higher benefit: cost ratios of improved practices (2.26) for both the blocks over farmer's practices (1.95) also showed the economic feasibility of the demonstrated practices. Further, the value of technology index from 1.46–10.42 q/ha indicated more scope of improvement in the production technology of summer mungbean. However, there is a need for refinement in extension network to reduce the gaps between improved demonstration practices and local practices and to aware the farmers regarding the benefits of summer mungbean as catch crop.
