Combining ultrasmall NiS₂ nanodots with three-dimensional carnation-like CoS₂ microstructures is demonstrated to be able to enhance the electrocatalytic activities for both the oxygen and hydrogen evolution reactions, leading to efficient overall alkaline water splitting.
