Flavonoids and alkaloids from the leaves of Litsea fruticosa

Phytochemical investigation of Litsea fruticosa (Hemsl.) Gamble resulted in the isolation of eight flavonoids and four alkaloids. Their structures were identified as pinostrobin, pinocembrin, pinocembrin chalcone, apigenin, kaempferol, astragalin, isoquercetin, kaempferol 3,4′-di-O-l-rhamnopyranoside, boldine, laurolitsine, actinodaphnine and ushinsunine by comparison of their spectral data with those reported previously in the literature. Chemotaxonomic significance of these investigation is summarized.
