Texture and microstructural development in gelcast barium hexaferrite
2008
Hovis, D. B. | Faber, K. T. | Kenik, E. A.
The development of texture in barium hexaferrite by templated grain growth was studied as a function of the Fe₂O₃/BaCO₃ ratio, B₂O₃ additions in the starting materials, and sintering temperature. A magnetic field was used to orient the template particles during the gelcasting process. Excess BaCO₃ resulted in abnormal grain growth and maximized texture, while B₂O₃ additions promoted coarsening, but no abnormal grain growth.
