Patterns of Flow of Technical Information—A Design Problem for the Textile Industry1
1968
Wells, R.D.
The role of an industry information storage and retrieval (ISR) system for published material is related to the total-information flow network. Suggestions are made for reorganization of literature and conferences to serve major user needs in groupings, form of presentation, and timing. Consolidation around natural cores of basic technology is recommended for internal efficiency and to facilitate linkages with discipline and allied networks. Divisional information centers integrated by computer- based systems, and inclusion of unpublished material in the ISR data banks, are proposed.
