Floormats, matting, duckboards
1983
The use of floormats, matting and duckboard increases safety in work areas by preventing slipping and skidding. Foodservice operations generally use 3 types of matting: 1) anti-slipping mats; 2) cushion-type mats which ease leg strain; 3) protective mats to prevent soiling of floors or carpets. Each of these mats come in 3 configurations: rolls, individual mats, or sectional mats or tiles. Kitchen mats prevent slippage both behind counters and in front of service stations. Hybrid mats protect carpets/floors, alleviate fatique, and prevent slippage and breakage. Suggestions are given on what features to stress and the advantages of showing examples when attempting to sell new matting. (kbc)
