Tricyansulfonium hexafluoroarsenate S(CN)₃⁺AsF₆⁻ is prepared by halide-pseudohalide exchange with SBr₃⁺AsF₆⁻ and AgCN. The cyandimethylsulfonium salts (CH₃)₂SCN⁺AsF₆⁻ and SbF₆⁻ are obtained via reactions of CH₃SCN with CH₃OSO+MF₆⁻ (M = As, Sb) in liquid SO₂. The compounds are characterized by Raman, IR and NMR spectroscopy.
