Effect of Silicon Carbide Nano Dispersion on the Mechanical and Nano Structural Properties of Cement

People have tried to modify the molecular structure of concrete with adding nano scale material. In this work, SiC nano material (synthesized by sol–gel method) has been used in cementitious materials. Their nano structural properties and mechanical characterization are discussed in connection with the influence of nano crystallite size effects and other features in detail with using atomic force microscopy (AFM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) techniques and X-powder, Nano Surf and stress–strain (Williamson–Hall) analysis. The obtained results show that adding 2 % in weight (2 wt%) SiC in cementitious matrix, increase the compressive of blended mortar by 10 % compared to other presented samples.
