As an advanced structural material, DNA has been widely exploited to construct a variety of elegant but powerful DNA geometric polyhedrons (DNA-GPs). The high programmability, good biocompatibility and diverse functionalization approaches, combined with stable frames and hollow interiors, have conferred vast opportunities in multiple interdisciplinary research. Herein, we one by one review recent progress in the assembly strategy studies of different DNA-GPs. Moreover, many applications are highlighted to elucidate the development in biosensing and drug delivery, and explore great potentials for frame-based organization, dynamic DNA devices, as well as cargo encapsulation and controlled release.
