Genetic analysis of spontaneous and 6-N-hydroxylaminopurine- and propiolactone-induced Adp+ mutants in Saccharomyces yeast

We have obtained 652 mutants assimilating aminoadipic acid as the sole nitrogen source that are spontaneous and induced by 6-N-hydroxylaminopurine (HAP) and propiolactone (PRO). 598 mutants were found to be mutants for gene LYS2. We performed phenotypic and genetic analysis of the mutants. All mutants with clear expression for gene LYS2 were mapped using the method of overlapping deletions. The groups of mutants induced by RAP and PRO and those that appeared spontaneously differed by all criteria, except for the distribution of the mutants on the recombination map of the gene.
