Comparative studies on programmes from management of energy supply: torpor, pre-winter fattening and migration
1995
Andrews, J.F.
The purpose of this paper is to draw attention to the unique program-for-management of energy supply, which genetic selection has given to each species. This topic is first discussed in principle, then illustrated by examples from nature. A discussion of the management of energy supply, the energy balance equation; independence and interdependence of three types of storage fuels; and maintenance metabolic rate is followed by several case studies involving a variety of species.
