What your trainees can learn by simply watching others
1978
Behavior modeling or imitation learning was a virtually unresearched and unknown topic prior to 1941. The work of Miller and Dollard and Dr. Albert Bandura has clarified this approach to training. Facets of their research are reported. Four processes governing the modeling phenomenon are discussed: attention, retention, reproduction, and reinforcement/motivation. Findings from a decade of copious research on modeling applications are summarized. Some areas of its effectiveness include problem solving strategies, rule following, developing interviewing skills, assertive behavior, and tolerance to pain.
