The top ten issues facing school food service
1986
Mulcrone, W.G.
Efforts to develop an issues management program for school food service have resulted in 10 issues which face the food service industry today. These issues include: Class polarization; market segmentation; irradiation; aseptic packaging; product tampering; the AIDS issue; foreign imports; nutrition labeling; computers/robots; and the aging of the population. All of these issues are the results of a changing society and/or technological advancements. The food service industry must keep up with these needs by facing the issues at hand and dealing with each one independently. As times change, it is of utmost importance for industries, such as food service, to keep pace with the needs of society.(lsp)
