Health care systems today produce services that involve the creation of intangible, heterogeneous, and perishable products created and used simultaneously (1). The success of the service delivery system depends upon effective information processing during the three phases of service delivery, attention to the attributes of service valued by the client, and production of a positive residual or aftereffect in the client's mind.
