A rice virus disease resembling tungro in East Pakistan

A rice disease characterized by stunting and yellowing was observed in East Pakistan, and its transmission by the rice green leafhopper, Nephotettix impicticeps Ishihara, was demonstrated. the symptoms, vector species, virus-vector interaction, and incubation period of the disease in the plant strongly indicate that the disease is caused by a virus similar to, if not identical with, the tungro virus disease in the Phillippines.
