Comparative efficacy of Controlled Release Progestrone maintained intra-vaginally for 7 and 9 days on the reproductive performance of post-partum anestrus indigenous cows was evaluated. Total 36 post-partum anestrus cows were randomly divided into three groups consisting of 12 animals each. Group-I and II were inserted with Controlled Internal Drug Release (CIDR) for 7 and 9 days respectively and inj. Prostaglandin (Cloprostenol 500 μg, IM) was administered at the time of CIDR removal. Group-III cows were kept as untreated control. Response was recorded in terms of estrus induction rate, first service conception rate, overall conception rate, pregnancy rate and cyclicity establishment rate respectively as 91.66, 54.54, 63.63, 58.33 and 91.66 percent in Group I and 83.33, 50.00, 60.00, 50.00 and 83.33 percent in Group II, whereas no fertility response was observed in control group. The study showed better fertility results in 7 days CIDR-PGF₂α protocol as compared to 9 days protocol.
