Jaeg, J.-P.
According to the success of a treatment or the adverse effects (for example emergence of antibiotic resistance bacteria), the importance of owner compliance in following treatment is recognised in veterinary medicine. Unfortunately, owner compliance is generally poor. Veterinarian can improve compliance because they control two important parameters: client-communication and prescription. A greater involvement perceived by veterinary clients and an adequate communication improve the owner compliance. Veterinarians should also prescribe or recommend a good product, in other words an effective active substance and an adapted formulation. In the context, pharmaceutical laboratories must produce effective drugs easily administrable.
