Patho-epidemiological and molecular studies on leptospirosis in small ruminants of South Gujarat
2014
The present investigation was aimed to study the pathoepidemiology of leptospirosis in small ruminants (goats and sheep) in South Gujarat Region. A total of 500 serum/blood (goat-459, sheep-41) and 312 urine (goat-292, sheep-20) samples and morbid materials from 52 animals (goats-42, sheep-10) were collected. These sampleswere subjected to serological, clinicopathological and pathomorphological examinations. For direct detection of leptospiral DNA/nucleic acid in blood/urine Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and Quantitative RealTime Polymerase Chain Reaction (qPCR)were used.
