A new 18-norclerodane diterpenoid, peniankerine, was isolated from an extract of the stem bark of Penianthus zenkeri together with two clerodane diterpenes and a protoberberine quaternary alkaloid. The structure of peniankerine was determined by mass spectrometry and NMR spectroscopy.
