The Effects of mere exposure on liking for edible substances
1982
Pliner, Patricia
Male undergraduates tested previously unfamiliar tropical fruit juices (20, 10, or 5 times) in order to determine liking after mere exposure. Subjects rated each juice in terms of their liking for its taste. The results demonstrated a strong exposure effect; the more the students drank a juice the more they liked it. It is suggested that exposure plays a role in the acquisition of food preferences. (kbc)
