This paper presents a model and simulation of yarn dynamics to predict the drape behavior of clothes by generalizing the model to fabrics. In the first part of this work, mathematical and mechanical theoretical bases are developed to attempt modeling the shape of a falling yarn with one end fixed. The equations describing the model are strongly interconnected and nonlinear. In the second part, a software implementation of the nonlinear system goes beyond the bounds of computing memory, requiring some simplifications. A series of simulations tests the influence of yarn parameters on this model.
