Sodium Transport by Skin of Amphibian Species from Different Habitats
1964
Schmid, William D. | Underhill, James C.
Net sodium transport was measured in isolated skin preparations for five species of anuran amphibians from different habitats. Although previous reports had described differences in the rates of water uptake for anurans from differences habitats, the results of the present study have indicated a lack of significant differences in active sodium flux. The mean rate of sodium flux (all species) was 1.05 microequivalents of sodium per cm² surface, hour.
