A software shell for environmental accounting

Companies that introduce environmental accounting principles in their management accounting system can significantly benefit from lower energy bills and greater efficiency in their operations. However, environmental accounting is a difficult task, especially for small enterprises or SMEs, as it requires a significant proportion of their limited resources. This paper presents EnvAcc, a software shell that aims to integrate environmental accounting services with ERPs in a flexible, configurable way. The system is developed using open source tools and open architecture standards, such as PHP, MySQL, Javascript and Linux. The user interface is web-based to achieve a convenient user experience.
