Performance of KVKs in North Eastern Region of India Under Different Administrative Units

The role of KVK in assessment and application of technology is very crucial. As KVKs functions under various administrative controls, hence an attempt has been made in the present study to measure the performance of KVKs of NE region under different administrative units, viz., State Govt., ICAR, SAUs/CAUs and NGOs. The purposively selected KVKs were KVK Mamit, Tirap and South Sikkim under State dept. of agriculture; KVK South Tripura, West Garo Hills and Phek under ICAR Institutes; KVK Cachar, Tinsukia and Imphal East under SAU/CAU and KVK West Tripura under NGO. The overall performance of KVKs at organizational level revealed that the average performance percentage of the KVKs was highest (97.22%) in KVK, West Tripura followed by KVK, South Sikkim; South Tripura; Tirap; West Garo Hills; Imphal East; Tinsukia; Cachar; Phek and Mamit with 87.08 per cent, 85.48 per cent, 82.28 per cent, 82.21 per cent, 79.15 per cent, 74.72 per cent, 74.60 per cent, 74.14 per cent and 71.91 per cent respectively. It is also observed that among the host institutes, NGO had the highest (97.22%) average performance percentage followed by ICAR Institutes (80.61%), State dept. of Agriculture (80.42%) and SAU and CAU (76.16%).
