Steinernema thermophilum was the first steinemematid species described from India in 2000. There have been suggestions in literature regarding it being a junior synonym of previously described S. abbasi. The available morphometrical and molecular evidences have been examined to clarify if these two species are conspecific or not. The morphological and molecular data given as evidences suggest that S. thermophilum and S. abbasi are closely related but two different species of good standing.
