The Bio-availability of isomaltulose in man and rat
1983
Macdonald, I. | Daniel, J.W.
Extract: Isomaltulose, a disaccharide with 40% of the sweetness of sucrose, was given to healthy men and to rats. In man, as predicted from the V max of human jejunal homogenate, the increase in serum insulin and fructose was significantly less than that after ingestion of comparable amounts of sucrose. As expected the serum glucose response was similar after both disaccharides. The rate of excretion of labeled CO2 in the expired air of rats was similar for both disaccharides indicating that the rates of hydrolysis were comparable. (author)
