Seven flavonoid aglycones were identified in leaves of 62 species, belonging to 18 sections of the genus Vicia. In order of frequency, they are: luteolin (45%), kaempferol (45%), quercetin (44%), apigenin (24%), diosmetin (13%), myricetin (3%) and vitexin (3%). In general, the distribution patterns follow subgeneric and sectional classification. The patterns are more diverse in two sections Vicilla and Cracca which may need further subdivision.
