A report for food technologists discusses new membrane systems for use in 3 different food processing methods, viz.: reverse osmosis, ultrafiltration, and microfiltration. Tubular, spiral, flat plate, and hollow organic membrane systems are discussed and illustrated. Ceramic and large tube systems also are described. Applications discussed include dairy products, citrus juices, beer, wine, water, and wastewater. Companies producing membrane and membrane systems are identified.(wz)
