This philosophy statement on procurement in child nutrition programs, developed as a result of a conference on the impact of procurement on implementation of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, provides an overall vision of and attitude toward food procurement. This philosophy statement provides a foundation for communicating beliefs and values and for developing strategies for ensuring quality programs in which the Dietary Guidelines for Americans are implemented.
