Influence of Host Plants on The Susceptibility of Spodoptera litura (Fabricius) to Certain Insecticides

LC₅₀ of tested insecticides were determined in third instar larvae by leaf disc bio-assay. The results indicated that the S. litura larvae reared on cotton were more susceptible to emamectin benzoate (LC₅₀ 0.21 ppm), lambdacyhalothrin(LC₅₀0.66 ppm) and spinosad (LC₅₀ 0.0029) than those rearedon castor and artificial diet. The artificial diet fed larvae showed significantly more susceptible to flubendiamide (LC₅₀ 0.09 ppm), indoxacarb (LC₅₀ 3.13 ppm) and lambdacyhalothrin (LC₅₀0.20 ppm) than those reared on cotton and castor.
