The study investigated qualitative composition and content of secondary metabolites of aerial part of 14 species of plants of the genera Saussurea DC., Centaurea L., Serratula L., Cirsium Нill., and Ancathia DC. growing in Siberia. High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method was used to identify 16 compounds of phenolic nature; the most common for the studied species are gallic acid, syringin, chlorogenic acid, ethyl gallat, rutin, and isoquercitrin. The content of total of phenolic compounds in the studied species was from 0.49 to 4.92%; maximum values were found in Saussurea alpina (L.) DC. 20-hydroxyecdysone was identified in the three studied species of the genus Serratula, the highest content of which was found in Serratula centouroides L. (0.12%).
