These last twenty years, the use of antimicrobials in feed of food producing animals evolved in the European Union. The main consumer health hazards which are the presence of residues of antimicrobials and antimicrobial resistant bacteria, are the targets of monitoring and control plan established in an European regulatory framework. More recently, the surveillance of veterinary antimicrobial consumption was organized at the European level. These tools and has been used to measure the progress regarding reduction of the uses. The positive effects of the foreground “ Ecoantibio ” of reduction of the use of antimicrobials to animals coordinated by the Ministry of Agriculture are today assessed using these different surveillance plans.
