Key mortality factors of semilooper Achae janata (Linn) infesting soybean

Achae janata passed through one generation during first year (2008–2009) and two generations during second year (2009–2010) on soybean. Carcelia sp. and one unidentified reason were the major mortality factors of Achae janata during both the seasons. The generation survival was 0.50 and 0.55 in respective years. The zero trend index value indicated that the mortality factors resulted into complete cessation of population of A. janata. The ‘K’ value of 0.3011 and 0.1809 in both years indicated that the maximum mortality to late instar larvae. The mortality due to unknown reason in pupae was up to the extent of 20.37 per cent.
