Liquid protein: the last word on the "Last chance" diet
1978
Mayer, Jean
The liquid protein diet, also called the protein sparing fast, can be dangerous if it is undertaken without a physician's guidance, on the instructions of one or another popular book and with the advice of clerks selling protein supplements. Reactions may range from nausea, dry skin, fatigue, dizziness, muscle cramps, anemia, and lowered blood pressure, to death. An explanation of the chemical reactions which take place during weight loss and the effects on the lean body mass clarifies the risks.
