Pangamic acid vitamin B15 fact or fancy?
1979
Herbert, Victor
Pangamic acid, or vitamin B15, is a loose term which most often describes a substance which is one part sodium (or calcium) gluconate, one part glycine (or dimethyl glycine), and one part diisopropylamine dichloroacetate. It is not a vitamin; it is a nutritionally worthless, possibly unsafe substance, which the FDA regards as illegal, both as a food and a drug. Deceptive advertising extols pangamic acid as a cureall for maladies ranging from alcoholism to schizophrenia. An inset provides information on the "discovery", marketing and promotion of pangamic acid.
