The paper is devoted to the 100th anniversary of birth of M.M. Gryshko Member of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukr. SSR. The main stages of his life, scientific, organizational and public activities in the fields of genetics, selection and botany are elucidated. As a result of his work the National Botanical Garden were created and since 1991 it was called after this scientist’s name.
